An orange glass table lamp that glows like the last minute of a sunset. Fifteen centimetres of warm, hand-finished orange glass sit on a polished steel base, dimmed from a switch on the cord through three warmth levels.

Some lamps light a room; Sunset™ changes how warm it feels. The 15 cm orange glass globe glows evenly from inside, with no visible bulb and no hot spots, and spreads a low amber warmth over linen, oak and plaster much as the last sun of the day does. A small switch on the cord steps through three colour temperatures, from a clear reading light to a deep candle-amber for the hour before sleep. It runs from any USB power source, so it sits as well on a headboard shelf as on a desk or a windowsill, and at 18 cm tall it fits where a full-size lamp will not.

Cura

Dust the globe with a dry microfibre cloth; a barely damp one lifts fingerprints. Unplug it before cleaning. It is glass, so stand it where it will not be knocked, and unpack it over something soft on the day it arrives.

Does it provide enough light for reading?

Yes. The brightest of the three settings is a comfortable reading light at arm's length. The two lower ones are mood settings for winding down.

How are the three light temperatures selected?

A small switch on the cord steps through them: a clear warm white, a golden middle tone and a deep amber. There is no app and no remote, just one button you can find with your eyes shut.

What do I plug it into?

Any USB-A power source: a phone charger, a laptop, a power bank or the USB port found on many headboards. No wall adapter is supplied.

Does the lamp still look orange without power?

Yes. Switched off, it is a glossy amber-orange glass sphere on a chrome base, a considered object in daylight. Switched on, the colour deepens and glows from inside.

Is changing the bulb possible?

The LED source is built in and rated for years of evening use. There is nothing to unscrew and nothing that rattles.

What keeps the glass safe during delivery?

The globe is shipped suspended in moulded foam inside a double-walled box. If it arrives in less than perfect condition, we replace it: photograph the box and contact us.
